Springtime Inspiration

The Lost Nest

At Easter we found this little nest, blown out of a tree, on my parents lawn.

It is so perfect – a tiny work of art. It’s been woven from twigs, grasses and horse hair and lined with down and lambs wool. It inspired me to make a birds nest yarn. Full of earthy colours with a hint of spring to come. . . and this is what I made . . .

A combination of Merino and Lleyn wool blended together and spun into a chunky, thick and thin single, incorporating a handful of little blue feathers, then plied with a moss green boucle Kid Mohair.

It would make a rather cozy home for a tiny, mythical, bird to snooze in until the sky warms up a bit, don’t you think?
